Custom Domains

Connecting a custom domain

Point a domain you already own at your A3 iFrame site. Available on Growth and Business Pro, or with the Custom Domain add-on.

Every new site goes live on a free subdomain like yourname.myfolio.name, which works great from day one. When you're ready for a more professional address, you can connect a custom domain you already own — for example yourbusiness.com — and point it at your site.

Who can connect a custom domain

Custom domains are available on the Growth and Business Pro plans. If you're on a different plan, you can add the Custom Domain add-on ($5/mo) to unlock the same capability. Once it's enabled on your account, you can connect a domain from your site's settings.

What you'll need

  • A domain you already own, bought from any registrar.
  • Access to that registrar's DNS settings so you can add records.
  • A few minutes — plus some patience while DNS propagates.

Steps to connect your domain

  1. Open the site you want from your dashboard and go to its domain or settings area.
  2. Enter the custom domain you want to use and start the connection.
  3. The platform shows you the DNS records to add — typically an A record and/or a CNAME record. For what these mean, see DNS records explained.
  4. Log in to your domain registrar, open its DNS settings, and add the records exactly as shown. Copy values carefully and don't add extra spaces.
  5. Save the records at your registrar and return to your site. The platform automatically checks for the records and verifies your domain once they're visible.
  6. After verification, an SSL certificate is issued automatically so your site loads securely over https://. No manual certificate setup is needed.

How long it takes

DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to propagate across the internet — occasionally up to 24–48 hours. Verification and SSL are handled automatically, so once your records are live and detected, the rest happens on its own. You don't need to keep refreshing; check back a little later if it's still pending.

After it's connected

Once verified, your site is reachable at your custom domain over secure HTTPS, served fast through the global CDN. Your free *.myfolio.name address continues to work too.

If you'd rather not touch DNS at all, you can buy a domain inside the app instead — it's auto-configured for you. See Registering a new domain.
