Supported file types and size limits

When you create a site, you upload a document for the AI to build from. A3 iFrame supports several common formats and has a clear size limit, so you can choose whatever you already have. Here's exactly what you can upload and what to expect.

Uploading a file is optional. If you don't have one, you can describe your site with AI on the same step and skip the upload entirely.

Supported file types

You can upload any of the following:

• Word documents (.docx) — great if your content already lives in Word.
• PDF files (.pdf) — ideal for a résumé, brochure, or business profile.
• Plain text (.txt) — simple and reliable when you just have the words.
• Images (.jpg, .png, .webp, .gif) — useful when your content exists as a picture, such as a scanned page or a designed flyer.

File size limit

The maximum file size is 10 MB. That's plenty for a text document and comfortable for most images. If your file is larger, try one of these:

• Save a Word file as .docx rather than an older format.
• Export a slimmer PDF, or remove very large embedded images.
• Resize or compress an image before uploading.
• Convert long content to plain .txt, which is very small.

Text uploads versus image uploads

There's an important difference between text-based files and images, and it affects your AI usage. Reading a Word, PDF, or text document is free, because the text can be extracted directly. Image uploads, on the other hand, use AI vision so the AI can interpret what's in the picture, and that counts toward your AI usage.

Because of this, if your content exists as both text and an image, uploading the text version is the more economical choice. Save images for when the content genuinely only exists as a picture.

Choosing the best format for results

Format affects more than cost. Cleanly structured text generally produces the most accurate results, because the AI reads your words directly without having to interpret a layout. A few pointers:

• Prefer .docx, .pdf, or .txt when you have the choice.
• For images, use a clear, legible, well-lit picture so the AI can read the text accurately.
• Whatever the format, focus on real content rather than instructions, as covered in preparing a great source document.

What happens after you upload
