Building Your Website

Generating your content with AI (no document needed)

No document? Describe your site in a few sentences by typing or voice, and the AI writes your full website content for you.

You don't have to upload a document to build a site. On the document step, Describe your site with AI lets you tell the AI what your site is about in a few sentences, and it writes the full website content for you. From there, your site generates exactly as it would from an uploaded document.

When to use it

This is the fastest way to start when you don't have a CV, brochure, or business profile ready, or when you'd simply rather not prepare a document. You describe your site, the AI drafts complete content, and you refine it later in the editor.

How it works

  1. Create a site and go to the document step.
  2. In the Describe your site with AI box, type a few sentences about your site — what you do, where you're based, your main services or products, and the tone you want. You need at least about 20 characters, and more detail gives a better result. Where your browser supports it, you can also dictate using the microphone button instead of typing.
  3. Click Generate content with AI. In a few moments the AI writes a complete content document, usually around 350 to 700 words across several sections, ending with a contact section.
  4. Review the generated content shown on the same step. If you'd like something different, edit your description and generate again.
  5. Set any optional design preferences, then continue to generation. From here it's identical to building from a document.

Writing a good description

The more specific you are, the better the content. A helpful description mentions what you offer, who it's for, where you operate, and the feeling you want. For example: "A cozy family-run Italian restaurant in Toronto — wood-fired pizza, homemade pasta, a short wine list. Dine-in and takeout, open Tuesday to Sunday evenings. Warm, welcoming vibe."

Placeholders to replace

Because the AI is writing from a short brief, it fills the contact section with clear placeholders — a sample email, a 555-style phone number, and a City, ST location. Replace these with your real details in the content editor after your site is built, along with any other text you'd like to refine.

Does it use credits?

Yes. Unlike uploading a Word, PDF, or text document, which is free to read, generating content with AI uses AI credits because the AI writes the content for you. To keep things fair, there's a limit of about 20 AI generations per hour. If you already have a document, uploading it is the free option — see supported file types and size limits.

Once your content is generated and you're happy with it, continue just as you would with an upload, covered in building your first website, step by step. Questions? Open a ticket from support.
